What shipped and when.
v1.1.0-rc.1
Preview pending notarization
- •Guided Microphone, Accessibility, and Screen Recording onboarding with a draggable Orbit tile and accessible Finder/Settings fallbacks.
- •One fresh private capture is now mandatory per request and deleted after every terminal or cancellation path, with Orbit-only startup recovery.
- •The Codex account model catalog is authoritative; connected model, effort, and service-tier settings apply per turn while one Codex thread stays warm.
- •Team-up remains explicit or instruction-triggered, with expandable child-agent activity in the current task.
- •Apple-local speech is the default. Orbit selects the exact Siri Natural Nora / Voice 4 used by Shortcuts, verifies its installed local asset, streams it without an Orbit narration file, and uses a named compatible fallback when unavailable.
- •Unrestricted command and filesystem access plus automatic approvals are disclosed once during onboarding and remain read-only in Settings.
- •Removed the unreachable generic desktop-actuator path; supported browser action and native-app guidance are now described accurately.
- •Release packaging pins Codex 0.144.0 and chrome-devtools-mcp 1.5.0, emits an SBOM, and fails closed on signing, notarization, stapling, and Gatekeeper checks.
v1.0.7
April 11, 2026
- •Installer ownership hotfix for PKG installs that could leave ~/Library/Application Support/Orbit owned by root and block Codex startup.
- •Orbit now preflights its support directory before launching the bundled Codex app-server and shows a direct repair command when the folder is not writable.
- •Release surfaces now point to the public 4xiomdev/orbit repository and its GitHub Releases page.
- •Open-source messaging across the website has been updated now that the main Orbit repo is public.
v1.0.6
April 8, 2026
- •Initial public release of Orbit as a direct-download macOS app with bundled Codex runtime.
- •AI desktop agent: sees your screen, moves your cursor, clicks buttons, types text, and controls your Mac.
- •Dual voice system: Local Voice (Apple Speech, fully on-device) and Cloud Voice (OpenAI transcription + GPT TTS).
- •Push-to-talk with global keyboard shortcut — works from any app.
- •Orbit cursor with bezier flight animation: points directly to UI elements on your screen.
- •Managed ChatGPT auth reuse — detects existing sessions or walks through login.
- •Full browser automation via Playwright MCP and Chrome DevTools — research, fill forms, complete multi-step web tasks.
- •Desktop actuator: moves cursor, clicks, types, and presses keyboard shortcuts anywhere on your Mac.
- •9 bundled skills: documents, presentations, spreadsheets, PDFs, transcription, screenshots, and more.
- •Codex activity HUD: real-time progress display during multi-step tasks.
- •All API keys stored in macOS Keychain — never in plain text.
- •First public direct-download release for Orbit on macOS.
